| OUR MISSION - To find talented young people in Central Ohio who seek to fulfill their dreams of a successful career in the music / recording industry.
S.T.A.R.S. primarily targets at-risk teenagers. Our teens gain positive, self-esteem building experiences through their daily involvement with S.T.A.R.S. The program offers Columbus youth an opportunity to learn about all facets of the music industry... from music composition to marketing and distribution.
| Each school semester, S.T.A.R.S. releases a compilation CD featuring the best songs produced during that period. CDs are distributed through retail stores and our program artists. |
S.T.A.R.S. teaches each young artist how to produce, compose their own songs, and how run a record company. As a participant in S.T.A.R.S., youth learn the basics of sound engineering, songwriting, music and concert production, manufacturing CDs, promotion, marketing and distribution. Every teen has the opportunity to record a song using hands-on training they receive on the tools of today's music-trade; computer generated sound effects, the drum machine, and keyboards.
These hands-on experiences give our students knowledge of all aspects of the music business. S.T.A.R.S. also exposes the youth to the behind-the-scenes careers in music, which are just as lucrative ass the careers in the limelight.
